If you are looking to install PayRange on an older Huebsch (or Speed Queen) hard mount washer, below is a video that might help you get started as there are a number of control board versions to look at and the PayRange instructions can't always cover all the versions you will find.

Turn Off Water Saver Maytag Topload Washers

 

Everyone wants to save water...except people who wash their clothes in a top load washer!
Remember people are used to being able to open the lid on a top load washer.
People also like to see their clothes being washed so they open the lid.
If they don't see a lot of water they are conditioned to think by the older style washers that used tons of water that their clothes are not being cleaned. A lot of manufacturers, and we laundry owners, want to save money so new washers come with a water saver feature turned on. If you want to turn it off to get a regular fill of water to stop customer complaints of "no water in the machine," here is how you do it for Maytag. I earlier did a version for Huebsch and Speed Queen and that video is below the Maytag version.

LaundryCares Foundation Honors Jason Dodge of Capitol Quick Wash with Community Excellence Award at the 2025 Clean Show

The LaundryCares Foundation proudly announced at the Clean Show that Jason Dodge, owner of Capitol Quick Wash in Milwaukee Wisconsin, has been awarded the 2025 Community Excellence Award at the Clean Show in Orlando, Florida.

Dodge was recognized for his deep commitment to serving his community and for transforming his laundromat into a hub for family engagement and support. Through his partnership with LaundryCares, Dodge has embraced the Read, Play, and Learn initiative, creating welcoming spaces where families can access books, literacy resources, and playful learning opportunities while doing laundry. His dedication to early literacy reflects his belief that laundromats can play a powerful role in strengthening families and building brighter futures for children.

In addition to his literacy work, Dodge was commended for his extraordinary response following a fire that swept through an apartment complex near his laundromat. He immediately mobilized to provide clothing support and  laundry services, ensuring that his business remained a vital source of care and comfort during a time of crisis.

“Jason embodies the heart of community partnership,” said Dan Naumann, Executive Director of the LaundryCares Foundation. “His leadership, compassion, and vision for how laundromats can serve families make him a true role model for operators across the country. We are thrilled to honor him with this year’s Community Excellence Award.”

The Community Excellence Award is given bi-annually to a laundromat owner who demonstrates outstanding commitment to community engagement, family support, and innovative programming that strengthens neighborhoods.

Laundromat Health Inspection List

 

Being a laundromat owner you might have to face an inspection from your local health department, neighborhood services department, licensing department, or some other government agency in your community. What are they looking for? Generally it is that your mat is safe and complies with local ordinances. What are some of the things they are looking for:

1. clean

2. bathroom fixtures in good working order

3. exit signs light up

4. door unlocks when building power is off

5. light fixtures covered

6. fire extinguishers in good order and tagged with proper certification

7. licenses are displayed

8. lint traps clean

9. dryer room free of lint

10. outside lights work

11. door for boiler room closes and latches automatically

12. no bugs and vermin

13. cracks in the floor or other tripping hazards

14. water back flow devices installed for outside faucets

15. water pipes labeled potable/non-potable

16. phone number listed for emergency or refund situations

17. Anything else the inspector wants to look for!

Some areas have dedicated inspectors for laundromats. These officials will usually look for more laundromat specific items. Other communities have inspectors that look at residences in addition to laundromats so they might look at other items more specific to those buildings. Get to know your inspector. Treat them with respect and remember they are doing their job so correct what they tell you.
