Saul Shuster Obit

 Saul is my brother-in-law

-Ev

Born to Abraham and Anna Shuster in Montreal, Canada, Saul immigrated to the United States after WWII where he worked along side the imminent physicist Alfred Mann and was instrumental in developing and producing the solar cells that powered the first space craft launched by the United States.  Evidence of his work hangs in the Air and Space Museum of the Smithsonian.  After leaving the space program, Saul was the photographer for the Dean Martin Show during the 1970’s where he had the opportunity to photograph the celebrities of that era including Bob Hope, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett and many more.  Later, he brought the “star quality” photography to the general public; creating portraits in his studio that are now family heirlooms.  During his years of decline with dementia, as his analytical mind lessened, he lived more and more from his heart, whistling songs and making those around him laugh.  He is survived by his wife, Meredith and his three children, Marny Shuster, Shelly Fitzsimmons (Joe) and Dr. Kevin Shuster (Kim) and his three grandchildren, Allyson Fischer (Jason), Katelyn Shuster and Ryn Shuster.  Saul was 89.
